FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Hornbacher’s grocery store in Osgood (Fargo) was briefly evacuated, after a small fire, Tuesday evening.
A Fargo fire official says they believe it was a related to a fryer. No injuries were reported, and the fire was quickly knocked down.
They say the caller reported a fire in the bakery and said the store was filling up with smoke.
Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a large exhaust unit over the bakery. The crew entered a door near the bakery and knocked down the fire. Other crews evacuated the people remaining in the store and then removed the smoke.
Fire damage appears to be limited to a fryer and hood over the fire, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation. There is also some water damage from a sprinkler that operated and kept the fire limited to a small area of the kitchen.
One person was affected by the smoke, but did not seek medical care.
The initial damage estimate is $20,000 for cooking equipment and damaged product.
Hornbacher’s Director of Operations said that the store would be closed until at least 6:00 a.m. on February 1, 2023.
