FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Even though there is still snow on the ground in some places, Minnesota DNR says it’s already time to start checking for ticks when you come in from off the trails.

Some tips for avoiding ticks bites are:

Wear light-colored clothing so you can spot the bugs better.

Tuck your pants into your socks or boots, and tuck your shirt into your pants.

Use a repellent containing deet.

Get your clothes off as soon as you get home, do a complete body check, and shower.

Wash your clothes immediately so you don’t spread any ticks around your home.
