FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The powerful winds that blew through the Red River Valley June 11 left a mess for some people to clean up.

In Rothsay, MN it was the second time in one week for a tree to fall on Nichole Walker’s property. During the June 7 storms a tree fell and landed on her car. Early June 11 the same tree fell and landed on her house.

“Today during the winds I got a text from my daughter saying that a branch was on the house,” said Walker, “I thought maybe it was just a little thing, but then she sent me a picture and like half of my tree was gone and it was on my house.”

By 6 a.m. Fargo city crews were cleaning the debris from fallen trees and limbs.

“Typical storm happened through the FM metro area and now we’re doing clean up,” said Arborist Supervisor for the City of Fargo Forestry Department, Tracy Zablotney.

He said they received several reports of fallen trees throughout Fargo.

One tree on 16th Ave. S. fell onto a garage and knocked power out for the neighborhood. Another tree at the Gladys Ray Shelter fell onto a fence of a neighbors yard.

Despite the damage Zablotney said it could have been worse.

“It’s been pretty minimal actually considering the wind we had,” said Zablotney.

Crews are working to clean up the debris in both public and residential areas as quickly as possible.

“We work as safe as we can and as efficiently as we can,” said Zablotney.
