FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -

An investigation is underway after fire destroys a home in south Fargo.

Fargo Firefighters were called just after midnight on Wednesday morning on a report of a possible grass fire in the area of 11th St and River Drive South.

When crews arrived, they found a house at 3680 River Drive South fully engulfed in flames. Officials say the fire was too advanced to save.

18 firefighters, 2 command staff, and 3 fire investigators were called in to help and the ladder truck was used to fight the fire.

Although the house was unoccupied and had been secured, the first arriving crews found the garage door to be partially open.  After the fire was under control, crews searched the structure to confirm no one was inside.

The house had been previously used for Swat training and was scheduled to be demolished. Both gas and electricity had previously been turned off to the home.

Fargo Fire and Fargo Police, with the assistance of the West Fargo Fire Department’s Arson K9, are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
