DETROIT LAKES, Minn. (Valley News Live) - The Detroit Lakes Fire Chief says lightning hit a house overnight, causing it to start on fire.

Fire crews were called to 613 West Main Avenue in Detroit Lakes around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday. They were on scene for several hours and were able to get the fire out around 7:30 a.m.

Fire officials don’t have a damage estimate available yet, but say the roof and attic have heavy fire damage. The bedrooms and living areas have quite a bit of water damage.

Detroit Lakes, Audubon and Wolf Lake Fire Departments responded to help put out the fire.
