FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The Missouri Valley Football Conference has canceled the Northern Iowa and South Dakota football game scheduled for Friday, April 2 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion, S.D., due to a positive COVID-19 test result and subsequent contact tracing in USD’s Tier 1 personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff.

The game will not be rescheduled.

This marks the fourth Valley game this week to be affected by COVID-19. Missouri State at North Dakota was cancelled Monday, marking the second straight week UND would go without a game due to positive tests and subsequent contact tracing within the Fighting Hawks program.

North Dakota State has also missed two consecutive weeks with Saturday’s game against South Dakota State canceled Tuesday, following last weeks game at South Dakota being cancelled hours before kickoff due to positive testing within the Tier 1 group for the Bison.

Illinois State and Southern Illinois also canceled after the Redbirds withdrew from the season after just four games this spring.

Youngstown State at Western Illinois is the only remaining game on the schedule this week for the Missouri Valley. They play at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
