Police “exceptionally” busy NYE

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -

Many of you got to sleep in after a night of welcoming 2021. While some stayed in, others were out till bar close, keeping police were extremely busy.

“Yesterday, I worked a ten-hour shift,” Dean Christianson from Grand Forks. “So I was tired; I just came home.”

Many like Christianson were at home when the clock struck midnight, not wanting to put anyone at risk by being out.

“What it does is it keeps dragging on the thing longer and longer,” said Christianson. “If people would just do what they were told, maybe I could stop wearing a mask sometime.”

“I think well over three-fourths of Fargo stayed home, and I really didn’t even want to go out,” said Lucas from Fargo.

Lucas went to Vinyl Taco in downtown Fargo.

“I noticed a lot of people wearing masks when they got in,” said Lucas. “When they were there, they weren’t wearing their mask for the most part.”

Fargo police said officers were exceptionally busy as people packed the streets and lines poured outside bars. They said they weren’t informed of any CDC type violations. Most officers responded to disturbances, but no critical incidents. Moorhead police said the night was quiet as their businesses are still closed.

They shared their optimism and faith in the vaccine for this year.
