Just Released Results from 2014 Innovaacom Medical Education Programs Show 99% of Physicians Recommend Attending to Improve Patient Health

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 26, 2014

Innovaacom, L.L.C., announced today the results of a series of worldwide medical education conferences that were held from January through June of 2014. The programs were attended by more than 1100 physicians from close to 60 countries who gathered to discuss and share best practices on how to prevent and manage the deadly and growing global trend of antibiotic resistance in what used to be common, treatable bacterial infections including pneumonia, urinary tract infections and others.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 2014 report, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is now a serious public health threat that impacts more than 2 million people every year increasing the cost and length of illness, and risk of death. Its really unthinkable to believe that were approaching an era where antibiotics may no longer work, said one physician program attendee about the AMR crisis which many believe could become the worlds next pandemic.

Innovaacom brought together a panel of global experts in infectious disease medicine, critical care and surgery at the continuing medical education programs to address AMR treatment challenges and coordinate action to minimize the spread of AMR especially in large hospitals. Pediatricians, infectious disease specialists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, hematologists, and microbiologists from Africa, China, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and South-East Asia attended the programs which included scientific and clinically-based presentations and interactive workshops for case study sharing.

The programs focused on current best practices in the treatment and management of intra-abdominal and skin/soft tissue infections and offered expert perspectives on drug intervention and infection control. Wider adoption of international clinical guidelines, better integration of hospital services and stewardship, and more comprehensive post-graduate training are all central factors in the fight to stem the AMR tide, said Ornella Vincenzino, CEO of Innovaacom.

WHOs Global surveillance of AMR reports high proportions of treatment resistance in a range of bacterial and fungal infectious diseases which is driving up healthcare costs by $20 billion dollars a year in the U.S. and $1.5 billion in Europe. According to the Centers for Disease Control, causes of drug-resistant bacteria include antibiotic over prescription, inappropriate use of antibiotics for viral infections, and consumer consumption of meat adulterated with antibiotics. The goal of the education programs was to help define best practices and emphasize guideline recommendations to improve the treatment of drug-resistant bacterial and fungal infections in individual communities and hospitals worldwide.

Innovaacom is a global company that provides medical education and training for healthcare professionals worldwide. The just in program results, showed that 99% of the physicians who attended the program felt it was of value to their practice and would recommend it to a colleague. Innovaacom post-program polls also indicated that 60% of physicians would like greater access to online clinical trial data, while 38% also wanted more online information on the latest diagnostic techniques and management of disease. The majority of doctors surveyed believe better stewardship of antibiotics and improved hospital guidelines is critical to greatly reducing the risk of AMR for patients in the future.
