UPDATE: Man Killed in Rollover Near Hillsboro Identified

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in a rollover crash on Interstate-29 Monday night. Elyas Abdulkadir Ali, a 22-year-old from Minneapolis, died of his injuries.

The Highway Patrol says Ali was heading south on the interstate when he lost control in a construction zone near Hillsboro, North Dakota. The driver was reported by witnesses as passing on the shoulder at high speeds. 

Authorities say Ali lost control while passing a semi, went into the ditch and rolled several times. He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY

A 22-year-old man is dead after a severe rollover crash. The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Monday night. Authorities claim speeding and reckless driving were factors.

Witnesses said that the man was speeding and went into the right lane of Southbound I-29 near mile marker 109, which was closed to traffic. The man was trying to pass the witness in the closed construction lane when the vehicle rolled over into the ditch. 

The interstate was shut down for a brief period of time.  The name of the man hasn't been released. No other injuries were reported.
