Klieman Opens First Fall Camp

Posted: Updated:
The 2014 Bison football team officially began their season today with the opening of Fall camp. While there are a few new faces the feel of the first day of camp was the same. Freshman learning how the Bison practice and veterans knocking off the summer rust. NDSU had several players sit out Spring ball nursing injuries but all but one player took part in today's practice and the new man in charge liked what the players brought to the field today.

"Guys were flying around. We saw some good things," first year head coach Chris Klieman said after practice. "I wanted to get the young kids, mainly teaching them how to practice. What our tempo and things are here."

"I saw a lot of great things out of those kids as well as those older kids you can tell had a great summer," Klieman said regarding day one.

For first year starter Carson Wentz, the preseason reps are welcomed. After backing up former starter Brock Jensen, Wentz is stepping in this year as the leader and looking for every chance to build connections.

"To finally get out there with a lot of these guys, [even with] a lot of question marks going around at a lot of these positions, to see a lot of guys playing football, it's just overall a lot of fun and just a blast to be out there," Wentz said of the work out.

Defensive tackle Brian Schatz sat out this morning, he's still recovering from a blood clot and might miss all of fall camp.
