UPDATE: Diversion Authority Chairman On Gov. Dayton Statement

Posted: Updated:
The Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Authority Chairman isn't saying anything after Governor Mark Dayton called the diversion project "unacceptable."

After hearing Governor Dayton's remarks, Commissioner Darrell Vanyo told Valley News Live he had no comment.

Other members of the diversion authority were contacted but no one has returned any calls.

In a written statement, Dayton says in part, "Flood relief which would greatly benefit North Dakota, and would damage property in Minnesota, is unacceptable. If the diversion authority sincerely desires a cooperative relationship with the state of Minnesota, it needs to reform its current practices.
Minnesota's Department of Natural Resources is attempting to join with the Richland-Wilkin Joint Powers Authority to stop ring dike work underway in the Oxbow-Hickson area saying that an environmental impact statement is needed in order to be in compliance with state law.
