Local doctors help a family recover after near drowning

Posted: Updated:
FARGO, N.D. -- Three-year-old Emett Weigel is on life support and in an induced coma after a near death drowning incident at a family wedding last weekend. The boy's father, Dr. Charles Weigel manages a family chiropractic clinic in Napoleon, North Dakota. Struggling to keep his clinic open, nearly 30 local doctors around the Valley have chipped in to assist in providing patient care as Dr. Weigel tends to his son's side.

"Tears started to well up thinking, 'oh my God' how can this happen?", said Dr. Jake Grinaker of Strive Chiropractics in Fargo. "But, the really neat thing was, while we still feel all of that, how quickly that shifted from kind of grief and all those things to action."

Dr. Jake Grinaker along with Dr. Doug Ness organized the group of doctors willing to lend helping hands at Dr. Weigel's office. All of the doctors are volunteering their time, proving this truly is a close-knit community.  Doctors have raised close to $7,000 to help the Weigels.

The chiropractors will continue to provide patient care at Dr. Weigel's office in Napoleon, North Dakota, Tuesday and Thursday for as long as the family needs.

If you would like help donate to the Weigel's please email Dr. Jake Grinaker at drjake@live.com or you can reach the doctor's office at 701.893.4200.
