Northern Valley Gets Brunt of Summer Storms

Posted: Updated:
Half the city of Crookston, MN, is without power, and emergency officials are scrambling to get emergency shelters set up after a summer storm rolled through the area.

Crookston Fire Chief Tim Froeber says crews are going door to door, letting those in the area know that shelters will be opening up in the city.

The town is covered in darkness with no street lights, making it hard to see much of the damage. There have been reports of several trees down throughout the town.

Grand Forks, ND and Carrington, ND, also got the brunt of the storm. We've heard reports of water and downed tree branches over roadways.

The Norman County Sheriff says at least one tree went down in Perley, MN, but there was no major storm damage in that area.

Cass County Electric also has sent out a notice that many people in Arthur, Page, and Hunter have been experiencing power outages off and on for the last couple of hours. Crews are working to find the cause.
