Propane Spill Causes Evacuation In Roseau, MN

Posted: Updated:
A propane spill from a semi caused 25 homes in Roseau, M.N. to evacuate the area around 7 A.M. Sunday. A semi hauling propane stopped near Highway 89 and 3rd Street Southwest and was hooking up the hose to a ground tank when it blew out, spilling 2 to 3,000 gallons of propane.
Officers and firefighters knocked on around one hundred doors, evacuating people nearby for a short time but also warning the surrounding area to open windows because of the strong propane smell. High winds helped reduce the propane smell quickly. The spill has been cleaned up and is no longer a danger.
