One In Four ND High Schoolers Report Being Bullied

Posted: Updated:
North Dakota high school students are reporting more bullying – both online and in school.

A new “Youth Risk Behavior Survey” has the numbers. It’s a national survey that is taken every two years.

Seventeen percent of the students who were surveyed said they’d been bullied online. Twenty-five percent said they were bullied on school grounds.

Eleven percent of the North Dakota students said they’d attempted suicide in the last year.

Those numbers are all higher than national averages.

North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirsten Baesler says the numbers show the need for stronger partnerships among agencies that help young people.
