Jamestown Firework Policy Frustrating For Some Residents

Posted: Updated:
We've all seen the fireworks for sale in the valley, but people living in Jamestown are already allowed to light them off.

Some people are having a problem with it. One of those people called our Whistleblower Hotline, calling the firework ordinance in Jamestown "ridiculous."

In the city limits you're allowed to shoot them off from June 27th until July 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and on the big holiday you can shoot them off until 1:00 a.m.

Danielle Schmidt lives in Jamestown and has an issue with the fireworks policy. "You hear about different injuries occasionally, and I don't know what it's going to take for the city to realize it's a nuisances, it's not a good quality of life for the people," says Danielle.

Many of the city council members agree with the policy. "I like fireworks, and financially for some people it's part of their yearly income."

For the ordinance to change in Jamestown, city council members say someone will need to write a petition.
