Warrendale, PA (PRWEB) July 02, 2014
AVL has awarded $50,000 to the SAE Foundation in support of the Foundations mission of encouraging and increasing student participation and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). AVLs gift will support SAE Internationals K-16 continuum of STEM education programs and help expose young people to the possibilities that exist in STEM-related careers, building a pipeline of future engineers, scientists and innovators.
In order to succeed in the society of tomorrow, all young people need to understand and apply STEM concepts in a real-world integrated setting. Participating in programs such as SAE Internationals A World In Motion®, F1 in Schools or Collegiate Design Series teaches them to solve complex problems, communicate clearly, raise questions, assimilate information and work cooperatively toward common goals. We are grateful to AVL for its support of critically important STEM programming, commented Lori Gatmaitan, Director, SAE Foundation.
AVL understands the critical importance of high-quality STEM education and we support the SAE Foundations efforts in this area. SAEs programs are effective and provide excellent results, helping to build the future STEM-education workforce that companies such as AVL need, said Chester S. Ricker, EVP and CFO, AVL.
About the SAE Foundation
The The SAE Foundation is the charitable arm of SAE International that strives to encourage and increase student participation and achievement in science, technology, engineering and math through educational programs, including A World In Motion® and the Collegiate Design Series. SAE International is a global association committed to being the ultimate knowledge source for the engineering profession. By uniting more than 145,000 engineers and technical experts, we drive knowledge and expertise across a broad spectrum of industries. We act on two priorities: encouraging a lifetime of learning for mobility engineering professionals and setting the standards for industry engineering.
Founded in 1948, AVL is the world's largest independent company for engineering development, simulation and testing technology for powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines. AVLs Technology Leadership Center has become a mainstay at the SAE World Congress, and annually hosts some of the industrys best and brightest in discussions critical to our industrys future.
