Maine has expanded Simplifiles e-recording service at the Knox County Registry of Deeds, enabling customers to submit documents for recording online, saving time and money.
Knox County, Maine (PRWEB) June 30, 2014
The Knox County Registry of Deeds recorded its first electronic document today, inaugurating their new electronic recording service with Simplifile now available to customers, the nations largest e-recording service provider.
Knox County decided to start e-recording when we changed recording vendors and also because we have had several requests to start e-recording, said Knox County Register of Deeds Lisa Simmons. Here at the Knox County Registry of Deeds we take pride in serving our customers in the best ways possible. We e-recorded our first document this morning, and it went very smoothly.
With Simplifiles web-based service, customers can scan, upload, and submit documents online, where the registry staff is able to receive, review, stamp, record and return the documents back to the submitter electronically in minutes.
According to Simmons, the registry is accepting all types of documents for electronic recording.
Were excited to see e-recording expand in the state of Maine and to help provide the county and their customers with an easy-to-use, cost-effective recording service to help them save time and money, said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile.
Other benefits of e-recording include increased document security, less paper waste, and fewer check-writing expenses, as recording fees and payments are processed electronically through Automated Clearing House.
Knox County joins 11 other Maine recording jurisdictions that have made Simplifiles e-recording service available. Nationwide, there are more than 1,100 counties that have implemented Simplifiles e-recording service to expedite and streamline document recording for both local and national document submitters.
High-speed Internet access, a computer, and a scanner are the minimum requirements for customers to begin e-recording documents through Simplifile.
