Know Your Fireworks Ordinances Ahead of July 4th

Now is the time to read up on your city's rules for fireworks. This year, West Fargo has a new ordinance specially crafted for the 4th of July.

Police say people in West Fargo were asking for a chance to shoot off fireworks. The new ordinance says people are allowed to use fireworks in city limits on July 4 from 8:00 a.m. to midnight. You must be at least 12 years old and the fireworks must be on your own property, unless you have permission to be somewhere else.

In the city of Fargo, fireworks are illegal unless set off by a professional.

The city of Moorhead sent out a reminder saying explosive and aerial fireworks are illegal in the state of Minnesota. Police say Every year they receive and respond to countless fireworks complaints, adding that collection and enforcement is exercised annually with large quantities of illegal fireworks destroyed.
