Chemical management firm one of only 18 suppliers recognized for extraordinary performance
Southfield, MI (PRWEB) June 30, 2014
ChemicoMays, a leading chemical management provider, this week received a Capital Equipment Supplier of the Year Award from Chrysler Group LLC and Fiat S.p.A. Chosen as one of only 18 recipients, the award was presented at Chrysler Groups Annual Strategy Meeting & Supplier Awards Ceremony at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Tuesday, June 24.
It goes without saying that ChemicoMays values its relationship with Chrysler Group and could not be more thrilled about receiving this award, said Leon Richardson, Chemicos president and CEO. We strive to demonstrate excellence in our everyday operations and are truly humbled by Chrysler Groups recognition of that commitment.
The Capital Equipment Supplier of the Year Award recognizes a supplier that provides capital equipment or manufacturing services that deliver significant value and outstanding support for Chrysler Groups assembly and powertrain plants. According to representatives from the automaker, Chemico was chosen as the award recipient for, flawlessly executing the transition of business into additional Chrysler plants, as well as for supporting the expansion of the Total Chemical Management program globally.
"ChemicoMays embodies many of the Foundational Principles we seek in our supplier relationships," said Jay Wilton, director of indirect purchasing, Chrysler Group. "They are consistently seeking ways to improve their service to our assembly plants and are very transparent and responsive in their dealings with Chrysler. We greatly appreciate their excellent performance on Total Chemical Management programs and look forward to growing our relationship."
Although Chemico began its work with Chrysler Group 20 years ago providing environmentally friendly specialty cleaning chemicals and paint stripping services, it was not until 2012 that the company started supplying the automaker with the full spectrum of chemical lifecycle management services. Chemicos function within the automakers facilities has grown quickly and significantly to include work with Chrysler de Mexico in addition to several of its U.S.-based operations.
Determined based on an evaluation of each companys External Balanced Scorecard performance in 2013 a rating system that evaluates supplier performance in areas such as quality, delivery, cost, warranty and partnership and input from Chrysler Group senior leadership, award recipients had to meet several benchmarks. Suppliers were able to nominate themselves to receive consideration for the Sustainability and Diversity Supplier Development award categories.
In addition to celebrating the role supplier partners play in Chrysler Group operations, the annual meeting and ceremony also acts as a venue for strategy and corresponding initiative discussion. Speakers at the event included the following Chrysler Group executives: Scott Garberding, head of group purchasing; Scott Kunselman, head of NAFTA group purchasing; Tim Kuniskis, president and CEO of Dodge; Jason Stoicevich, head of FIAT North America; and Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar parts and customer care.
