Fargo Looks For Architects For Downtown Parking Ramp Design

Posted: Updated:
The Fargo Parking Commission will pick from four architectural firms to build a $5 million downtown parking ramp.

This morning, commissioners considered experience level, design examples, and the possibility for mixed-use, which involves combining restaurants, shops or office space with the ramp, to help determine the final four.

In addition to downtown growth, they also recognize the need for parking after the new city hall is built.

"There's 100 renters in that lot that are going to be displaced that really won't be able to come back because the flood wall takes up a portion of that," said Fargo Planning Director, Jim Gilmour.

Commissioners hope to have a firm selected in August.

They say at the earliest, construction could begin sometime next year.
