The Valley News Live sports team confirmed today that NDSU starting Offensive Guard Zack Johnson will miss all of the 2014 season after having micro-fracture surgery on his left knee. It was scheduled as a cleanup surgery to remove a piece of cartilage in his left knee but what the doctors found was worse than they expected.
Johnson started all 15 games for the Bison last season at Guard. The Apple Valley, Minnesota native will redshirt his junior season after playing as a true freshman in 2012. He played in 13 games as a freshman.
With this loss just one starter will return this season to the offensive line from last year. Junior Tackle Joe Haeg is that sole returning starter. He will move from the right side to the left this season.
