Update: Suspects Kick in the Door Before Shooting Murder Victim 3 Times

Court documents have been filed in a murder case in Grand Forks, giving more insight into what may have happened on the night of June 24.  The Grand Forks Police Department was dispatched to the apartment of Jose Luis Alfonso Lopez after reports of a shooting.

The investigation found that at 1:45 a.m. Delvin Shaw and Dametrian Welch briefly knocked on the apartment door and then kicked it in, waking the people inside.  According to the affidavit of probable cause, Shaw entered the apartment first, followed by Welch.

The two confronted Lopez, a physical struggle happened between Lopez and Shaw, and Shaw shot Lopez three times. Lopez later died from his injuries.

Welch is currently at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center, but police are still searching for Shaw. 

He's also facing numerous charges for violent crimes in North Carolina, including assault with a deadly weapon, assault on a female, and child abuse.

Shaw is supposed to appear in court in North Carolina for some of those charges tomorrow.

Police have issued arrest warrants for men they believe were involved in the murder of Jose Luis Alphonso Lopez. Lopez died of multiple gunshot wounds early Tuesday morning.

Police are looking for Delvin Lamont Shaw. Police say Shaw's street name is "Squeaky." Police describe him as a black male who stands about 5'10" tall. Shaw is wanted for murder and burglary.Shaw has a long criminal history in North Carolina. He served a 4-year prison sentence for 2nd degree kidnapping and also has convictions for the following offenses: Possession of a firearm by a felon, drug charges, possession of stolen goods and assault of a policeman.

The second suspect, Dametrian Marcel Welch, is currently in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center on unrelated charges. In this case, he is wanted for burglary and conspiracy to commit murder.
