Grand Forks murder victim's sister speaks out

Posted: Updated:
The search continues for two suspects wanted in Tuesday mornings shooting of a Park River, North Dakota man.
Police say 24-year-old Jose Luis Alphonso Lopez had multiple gunshot wounds, was taken to Altru hospital, where he later died.

His sister, Monique Lopez is speaking out about his death wanting to clear the air and honor her brother.

Monique and the whole Lopez family were in Park River when Jose's fiance Kelsie, called them in a panic.

Monique says Jose and Kelsie were sleeping when they woke up to someone breaking into their home.

Jose was trying to keep Kelsie back when she watched him get shot multiple times.

He died two hours later at the hospital.

""He died in the most memorable way, protecting his fiance and his daughter. It was just some cruel act of violence," Monique said.

Jose's two-year-old daughter Harper, was sleeping at the time.

Kelsie is pregnant with their second child and is due in December.

Monique says it just doesn't make sense how this could happen to their growing family.

Now they're left with too many unanswered questions as to who did this and why.

"Our family alone we've lost a brother, a cousin and an uncle. For one person to just go like that, he wasn't just one person. He was multiple people," Monique said.

Police say they've interviewed several people as possible suspects in the case but no arrests have been made.

Anyone with tips is asked to call Grand Forks Police.
