Parts of southwest Minnesota have been deluged with torrential rainfall in recent days. More than 12 inches of rain has fallen since Saturday. Some storms have also packed hail and high winds.

The Rock River flooded when a damn burst due to heavy rains and is continuing to rise. Rivers and streams have spilled out onto farmlands and communities across the region.

The National Weather Service has a report of 3.5 inches of rain in Pipestone County. The Minnesota Department of Transportation says Highway 75 is closed about 10 miles north of Luverne due to water over the road.

A wind gust measuring 79 miles per hour is reported in Jackson. Hail estimated at an inch in diameter fell near Jackson, and tree branches are reported down.
Officials say it's a serious situation and residents should take extra precautions.
