UPDATE: Fargo Intersection to Shut Down for Three Weeks

Posted: Updated:

The 40th Avenue South reconstruction project has about 4.5 months left. Many are saying right now is the frustrating part of the project, due to the fact that the intersection at Veterans Boulevard and 40th Ave South is now closed for the next 3 weeks.

We knew that this part of the project was coming but we didn't know exactly when. Many drivers especially those trying to get to the Osgood golf course are feeling the frustration.

"Right now it is difficult," says frequent golfer Ann Olwell.

Olwell comes to golf at least once a week and always used the 40th Avenue South and Veterans Boulevard intersection. Now she has had to find a new route.

"It has been very inconvenient, we take that 44th and that is hard on the neighbors because you cant have a decent speed," says Olwell.

The detour for those coming South or North on Veterans is  over to 45th Street via 32nd or 44th Avenues South. The construction has those employed at the Osgood golf course and 9 Iron bar and grill answering phones left and right.

"There is a lot call because of confusion of which way to take, especially now with Veterans being closed is will be even worse," says 9 Iron Manager Eric Langness.

The 9 Iron has felt a slower lunch rush than in the past. The Osgood golf course says they haven't felt much business loss, but the detours are causing golfers to be late.

"Now with the changes in construction were getting a lot of callers saying they will be late for tee time," says Osgood Golf Course Manager Lisa Schwinden.

Now the intersection construction is supposed to last only 3 weeks. Another major part will be done by the time school starts and the entire project should be complete by October.
