Free Admission to the Zoo on Father's Day

Posted: Updated:
It's father's day weekend and if you are still looking for a special treat for dad why not bring him to the zoo? Dads get in free on Sunday.

The Red River Valley Zoo has some new fathers in the zoo. There will be special animal presentations to learn about animal fathers including their Bactrian Camels and Porcupines.

Kids and parents can enjoy seeing more that 600 animals right in Fargo.

If you are looking for something fun for the kids this summer, the zoo offers many different activities through the summer. Saturday June 21st is Doctor Doolittle Day.

Kids can learn how Zoo vets keep animals healthy by participating in fun filled education activities. The day includes a blow gun competition, try your hand at training and even a teddy bear clinic. Kids that bring their favorite stuffed animal get in free!

But it's not just activities the zoo is working on this summer, but many re-building and expanding projects. Lisa Tate the Exicutive Director says they are always trying to make updates and changes to keep the public interested.

The Red River Zoo is a non-profit organization that also helps with animal research. A new exhibit is being built on the zoo grounds thanks to a partnership with NDSU. The Baviary will be a place for students to study the behavior of song birds and bats.

Summer hours for the zoo are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. everyday.
