Road Closures Near Railroad Tracks in Downtown Moorhead

Posted: Updated:
Motorists in downtown Moorhead will encounter short-term road closures near the BNSF railroad tracks beginning Tuesday, June 10, as crews upgrade the traffic signal software.

New traffic signal software will be installed at several intersections along Main Avenue, Center Avenue and First Avenue North between the Red River and 14th Street.
Fourth Street, Fifth Street, Eighth Street, 11th Street and 14th Street will each close intermittently at the railroad crossings for installation and testing.

Each closure is expected to last less than one day.
Traffic on Eighth Street, which also serves as Highway 10 and Highway 75, will detour to 14th Street. Detours will not be established for the other crossings. The project will take up to one week to complete.

The upgraded software is intended to improve signal operations and minimize delays at street intersections adjacent to the railroad crossings in downtown Moorhead.
The project is a joint effort between Minnesota Department of Transportation and the city of Moorhead. For real-time travel information anywhere in Minnesota, visit www.511mn.org or dial 5-1-1.
