Posted: Updated:

The Detroit Lakes Police Department says a missing level-three sex offender is now back in custody.  Just before 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities near Billings, Montana, apprehended Robert Thomas Baca.

A warrant was out for Baca's arrest for violating conditions of house arrest and failing to maintain contact with the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) agents. Baca left a DOC house in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, over the weekend and authorities have been looking for him since Monday morning.

Detroit Lakes Police say they received several tips over the past few days indicating Baca had traveled to Fargo and Minot, North Dakota, before being found in Billings.  Authorities said a 'thank you' to media outlets who helped spread the word, and those who reported tips to police.

Police are looking for a level three sex offender who walked away from a half way house in the Detroit Lakes Area.  Robert Thomas Baca, 48, was last seen on Saturday at the 300 block of Summit Avenue in Detroit Lakes.

Baca is around 5'7 and 180 pounds. He has short red hair and several tattoos.  Police said they've received several unconfirmed reports of Baca being spotted in the area
