Posted: Updated:

Some good news about former NDSU and MSU-Mankato football player who is fighting for his life after a brain injury.

Isaac Kolstad's family says he's responding to his doctor's commands for the first time since landing in the hospital after a fight more than three weeks ago.
The progress was detailed on Kolstad's Caringbridge site. Posts say Kolstad has given a thumbs up to doctors on two different occasions.
Kolstad suffered a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury in a May 11 fight in downtown Mankato, MN. He remains in critical condition.
Two people are facing charges in the case.
