Special Olympics North Dakota Kicks Off

Posted: Updated:
Nearly 75 members of local law enforcement lit the torch Friday. It's called the flame of hope. It's supposed to brighten the lives of more than 1,000 athletes.

The torch run raises money and awareness for Special Olympics North Dakota. The games began today, and they start again tomorrow from 9:00 a.m. to around 2:00 p.m. In a few weeks many of them will be competing in nationals.

At least 100 more volunteers are needed at the Special Olympic events tomorrow. Organizers say this has been a tough year finding people to help out.

If you want to lend a hand show up tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. If you want to watch, the games are free. It will take place at Davies High School.
