Posted: Updated:
There's a new marriage battle brewing, this time in North Dakota.

According the Washington Post, the Minneapolis-based civil rights attorney who filed a suit on Thursday against South Dakota’s same-sex marriage ban says there are plans to do the same here.

Joshua Newville says he or another attorney will bring forward the suit in six to eight weeks.

North Dakota is the only one out of 33 states that ban same-sex marriage to not have a lawsuit filed over the policy.

Voters passed the state's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage back in 2004 by a 73% to a 27% vote.

Same-sex couples are are now allowed to legally get married in 19 states across the U.S.
