Man on Scooter Hospitalized After Getting Hit by Car

Posted: Updated:
A man riding a scooter was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after getting hit by a car in South Fargo. It happened in the intersection of 34th Street and 15th Avenue south just after 3:00 p.m.

Sgt. George Vinson with the Fargo Police Department says the vehicle was heading west on 15th Avenue and the scooter was going south on 34th Street when they collided in the intersection. Vinson says it appears as if the driver of the vehicle didn't see the scooter, despite the fact that the rider on the scooter was wearing a fluorescent colored vest.

"It really underscores the importance of looking twice in both directions, especially trying to lookout for smaller vehicles such as scooters," Sgt. Vinson says.

The driver of the scooter was taken to the hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.  Sgt. Vinson says it
appears the driver of the car may have ran a stop sign at that intersection. If that's the case after the investigation is complete, the driver of the car could face charges.
