Driver Reaches for Cigarettes and Rolls Car

Posted: Updated:
A Fargo man injured himself and two others when he reached for cigarettes while driving early this morning. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says John Randall, 31, was heading north on I-29 around 6:00 am when he reached for his cigarettes and a lighter and his car drifted into the median. Troopers say Randall over corrected and rolled his car. Two women passengers were injured and taken to Essentia Hospital for treatment. Sarah Farley, 23, and Kathryn Zahradka, 21, are expected to recover. Randall was treated at the scene for injuries. He's being charged with a traffic violation. The 2008 Ford Focus was a total loss.
The accident happened about 15 miles south of Fargo.
