Fargo Police responded to a report of gunshots fired at a south Fargo apartment complex early Thursday morning.

Lt. Joel Vettel says after an investigation and talking with witnesses officers arrested Armando Zavala on felony charges of theft of weapons and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Zavala, who's 22, is being held at the Cass County Jail in Fargo.

Several squad cars responded to the 4800 block of 47th Street South around 3:30 a.m. after people called 911 to report hearing gunshots.

Investigators eventually found a gun that had been thrown in a nearby field and witnesses led them to the suspect.
