UPDATE: Future Of EGF Economic Development Director's Job Remains Unclear

The fate of East Grand Forks’ Economic Development Director Jim Richter's job will remain a mystery until next week's city council meeting.


The council and Richter's board of directors met behind closed doors this afternoon.

City administrator David Murphy says they've reached a recommendation on Richter's job performance; however, that recommendation won't be made public until next week's city council meeting.

Documents have to be finalized before next week's meeting, and the council will decide the fate of Richter's job at that time.

The fate of East Grand Forks Economic Development Director, Jim Richter’s job will remain a mystery until next week's city council meeting. 

The City Council and the Board of Directors for  Economic Development and Housing Authority met in a closed session on Tuesday afternoon.

City Administrator, David Murphy says Richter’s job performance is under review. He says one item discussed, is a $500,000 dollar City loan that Richter made to an investment group. The group purchased the Boardwalk Building and never repaid the loan.

Murphy says on Tuesday afternoon they reached a recommendation on Richter's job performance, however, that recommendation won't be made public until next week's city council meeting.  He adds that documents have to be finalized before next week's meeting, and the council will decide the fate of Richter's job at that time.

We’ll have the Council’s decision regarding Jim Richter’s job, as soon as a decision is reached.
