NDSU Extension Service Celebrates 100 Years

Posted: Updated:
A major milestone for NDSU is being celebrated Thursday May 8th. It's the 100 year anniversary of the Smith-Lever Act which started the Extension Services across North Dakota.

Local agents help provide programs for the community, which keeps people connected to NDSU researchers. The Smith-Lever Act was signed back in 1914 on May 8th. Thursday afternoon county extension offices will be celebrating the anniversary. Cass County holds it's celebration from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Courthouse Annex, in the Bison room.

NDSU will also be celebrating on campus starting at 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Union Century Theater. Guest Steve Stak a historian will present a look back through the timeline of the Extension and land-grant university.

Extension service provides knowledge of home economics, agriculture and rural energy from the university to the community. For more information on the NDSU Extension Service click here.
