NAPA, Calif., May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bota Box, the nation's original eco-friendly premium 3-liter wine, announces the addition of Pinot Noir to the Bota Box family, which currently includes Chardonnay, Moscato, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Shiraz, Zinfandel and RedVolution.
Always ready for an adventure, Bota Box traveled to Chile to find grapes for its new Pinot Noir. This lively Pinot Noir is from grapes grown within the warm Valle Central appellation and the cool coastal regions of Casablanca. The fruit from Valle Central offers strawberry jam, plum and raspberry characters with a soft mid-palate and delicate tannins. Even ripening and darker color development in the cooler Casablanca coastal fruit adds blackberry and spice characters. Blended together, these two regions create a wonderfully fun and enjoyable wine. The 2013 vintage opens with sweet aromas of cherry pie, savory herbs and a hint of cola. It leads to an elegant body of rhubarb, black cherry and clove and a silky finish. The inaugural Bota Box Pinot Noir 3-liter is now available for distribution nationwide at a suggested retail price of $22.99.
Bota Box takes its name from the traditional Spanish bota used to carry wine for centuries. Bota bags became popular in the 1960's and 1970's with hikers, skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to take wine along on their outdoor adventure without the weight and fragility of glass bottles. Bota Box is the modern version of a bota … where the wine is kept fresh inside a 3-liter BPA free Mylar bag or 500ml Tetra Pak.
