Area law enforcement continue to piece together an assault that happened on Wednesday in a busy south Fargo construction zone.

Police say they believe the suspect, Obsa Ali Omer, has been posting adult ads on Craigslist in order to rob the people who respond to them.  The 41-year-old man, who was cut in the assault, was apparently responding to the adult ad Omer posted on Craigslist.

On Wednesday, the two were driving down 25th Street south in Fargo when Omer pulled a knife and badly cut the victim. Omer ran from police, but they found him at a nearby apartment complex about two hours later.

Police say they've connected Omer to two similar cases in Fargo, two in Moorhead and other crimes in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities. Police believe there are more victims out there, but they may be uncomfortable coming forward.

"The motive for Mr. Omar is to, under the rouse of using those adult entertainment ads to make contact with the victim with the purposes of committing a robbery," says Fargo Police Chief, Keith Ternes.

Omer also had a small amount of marijuana on him at the time of the incident.

One man is behind bars after a stabbing in South Fargo on Wednesday afternoon. The suspect,18-year-old Obsa Ali Omer, was arrested after a two hour man hunt with police.

It all started when a 41-year-old man was stabbed in the wrist while sitting in his truck on 25th Street south near Interstate-94. Police say his injuries are severe, but are not life-threatening.

Omer ran on foot from the busy construction site. Construction workers chased after the suspect, but in the end, K9 units tracked down Omer and police arrested him a short time later. Police found the knife and suspect at apartments nearby.

Police received conflicting reports from the construction workers, the victim, and other witnesses nearby and continue to investigate how the two men know each other.  Police say the two men were in the victim's red truck together before the stabbing happened, and police say it looks like there could have been some sort of exchange.

"Resulted in two people, one obliviously wanting to obtain something from the other one, and during that result ended up violence occurred, we will look at the exact parameters of the case," explains Lt. Joel Vettel.

At this time, the victim is not being investigated for any type of criminal activity.

Fargo Police have an 18-year-old suspect in custody after a stabbing in South Fargo on Wednesday afternoon. Obsa Ali Omer was arrested at 2401 20th Avenue just before 3:00 p.m.

Police are trying to figure out the details leading up to the stabbing that happened on 25th Street South near the I-94 in the construction zone. Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel says a man was cut on his wrist while sitting in his truck.  Initial reports indicated it may have been an attempted carjacking, but police say they have no evidence to confirm that.

Omer ran from the scene on foot and some construction workers in the area chased after him. K9 units were brought in to help officers track the suspect.

Police are trying to sort out why Omer and the man in the truck were together, and are unsure if the two men know each other. Police say they are getting conflicting information between the construction workers, the victim and other witnesses in the area.

The victim who was stabbed was treated on scene and his injury is non life-threatening.
