Industry Veteran Adds to Emerging Manager's Institutional Presence

BOSTON, May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ken Goodreau has joined FlowPoint Capital Partners, LP as Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager. FlowPoint has also hired Nick Trotman as Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager.

As Chief Investment Officer, Goodreau will be responsible for leading the FlowPoint investment strategy as well as consultant relations and marketing. He brings 20 years of award-winning experience in investment management to the firm. "I enjoyed getting to know Ken as a client, and look forward even more to working with him," says Charles Trafton, lead Portfolio Manager and Managing Partner of FlowPoint.

Jeff Parker, founder of FirstCall Corporation and former CEO of Thomson Financial, CCBN, Technical Data Corporation, 38 Newbury Ventures and other leading financial technology firms, is a lead seed investor and member of FlowPoint's advisory board. "Ken is a thought-leader in institutional investment management, and Chuck and Nick's skills and commitment to process are a distinctive investment strategy," Parker commented. "As an investor, I'm impressed with the team's focus on risk-adjusted absolute return. As an equity partner, I appreciate volatility management as the cornerstone of their approach."

Before joining FlowPoint, Goodreau was Chief Investment Officer at Tiedemann Investment Group, where he oversaw a $1.8 billion multi-strategy hedge fund. From 2006-2012, Goodreau was Chief Investment Officer for the $7 billion State of Rhode Island Employee Retirement System. During his tenure, Goodreau constructed a billion-dollar alternatives portfolio, and the Rhode Island Pension was highly-ranked vs. peers in return, risk and overall performance, and twice nominated by Institutional Investor magazine as "Small State Pension of the Year", including 2012. From 2005-2006 Goodreau was Portfolio Manager and General Partner of Knollwood Capital Partners, an independent hedge fund.

Trotman has 15 years of experience in investment management, specializing in business process and portfolio management. Before joining FlowPoint, Trotman managed an equity income strategy for a Connecticut-based investment advisor. Prior to that, he spent eight years as a portfolio manager and analyst in equity research, including four years (2000-2003) working with Trafton. "Nick's expertise in asset management operations and our shared passion for financial technology are critical to our success. Our experience together in past bull and bear markets solidified our desire to partner again," Trafton said.
