Restaurant Report Card

Posted: Updated:
If you're out on Main Avenue in Fargo and want to stop to grab a quick bite, you might pull into the Simonson Station Store, but the last time health inspectors came through April 29, they found two non-critical and one critical violation.

The store owner declined to comment on the inspection, but the report says all three are repeated violations: incomplete labels on food, mold build up in the ice machine and on the ice chute of one of the pop machines as well as dust buildup in a few areas.

Making our way to West Fargo, we stopped at China King off of 13th Avenue.

China King wasn't able to comment, but an inspection there May 2 revealed five non-critical and one critical violation: employee food on the prep line.

In our last stop we visited this week's Clean Plate Award winner: the Caribou Coffee off of 25th Street in Fargo who has been clean in their last three inspections.

They serve coffee, teas, baked goods and sandwiches and the Store Manager Jennifer Matcha says it's a process to train in employees and stay on top of health codes.

She says they take pride in keeping the store clean for their guests and a clean store is a happy store:

"It's just really important to us that we do keep our stores clean. You know, every Caribou location that's one of our number one standards is to keep things clean along with you know, making our guests happy," she says.

She says it's a whole team effort.
