68-Year-Old Fargo Woman Releases First Ever Album

Posted: Updated:
One Fargo woman shows us age is no matter, because at 68 years old she's launching her first album.

The party was at Peace Lutheran Church, and her fans come in all shapes and sizes, but this mix of hits from the 1950's through 80's is a little slice of the life she wants her family to hang on to.

"Paula's music, she is very good at music, she has done an excellent job," says Paula’s husband, Dick Larsen.

Paula Larsen has been singing all her days, but today is the day she is waiting for, "I would hope that they enjoy it," says Paula.

She is launching her first ever album, "In my early days, I think doing an album was very much out of reach people didn't have computers, they were doing things at home, you probably needed to go to Nashville, or New York, or LA," says Paula.

"She practiced on the piano, until she got to where she could accompany herself, she just does so well she is a magical performer," says Dick, "So this is for the family, not only her side, by my side as well."

It's called Legacy. "I conceived of the album, to leave a legacy to my family, and I never intended to market it, it was to be a gift to my family and my closest friends," says Paula.

In fact, she only made a few physical copies. "The album cover has four panels," says Paula. Her family is embedded right on the CD case. "Helping them understand, that god has a plan for us, each and every one of us, and we all receive gifts," she explains.

And her gift is that of a song, music for her family to remember her by.

"He listened to some of the tracks and he said, gee that's great grandma what kind of music is that? Well he knew it was not rap," says Paula, talking about her grandson.

And a website online picked it up, and will be handing it over to ITunes, Amazon, selling electronic copies of her legacy.

People have already started asking Paula for another album, she says that's a possibility after she takes a little break.
