Heart Walk: Helping Prevent Heart Disease

Posted: Updated:
The leading cause of death in the United States and in North Dakota is preventable with a few lifestyle changes. Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) includes heart disease and a stroke. It kills one American every 40 seconds.

The American Heart Association is trying to decrease the number by sharing things you can do as prevention including eating well and walking more. Walking helps lower your risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

The American Heart Association is holding a walk Saturday May 3 at Scheels Area. The goal is to raise $85,000 to help fund research that could save lives. Festivities for the family start at 9am, the opening ceremony begins at 10am.
