NBA Bans Los Angeles Clippers Owner For Life

Posted: Updated:
In a news conference this afternoon, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver banned Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life.

Sterling was under fire from a taped conversation with his then girlfriend, V. Stiviano, that was released on Saturday. Sterling made racist remarks in that conversation.

When the NBA was made aware of the tape, an investigation was launched.

As part of that investigation, the NBA interviewed Sterling, and have verified that the voice on the tape is indeed Sterling's voice.

Commissioner Silver stated "The views expressed by Mr. Sterling are offensive and harmful."

In addition to the lifetime ban, Sterling was fined $2.5 million. That money will be donated to various anti-discrimination efforts.

Silver said he is also also urging the Board of Owners to force the sale of the Clippers.
