Defense Counsel Amy Rameau Seeks Dismissal in The Samuel Martinez Case

Posted: Updated:
Brooklyn defense attorney Amy Rameau is seeking a dismissal in the Samuel Martinez case. Mr. Martinez is charged in the 2006 quadruple homicide in Brooklyn, New York.

Brooklyn, New York. April 21st, 2014 – Another prosecution initiated by the former administration of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office is now falling apart. The case against Samuel Martinez, accused of a 2006 quadruple homicide by arson, committed in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn at 1033 Pacific Street, resulting in the deaths of 23 year old Sheri Williams, 36 year old Assita Coulibaly and her children, 3 year old Mirian Fofana and 1 year old Mohammed Fofana, is now unraveling. Defense attorney Amy Rameau and her team have uncovered a mountain of exculpatory evidence casting substantial doubt upon the government’s case against Mr. Martinez and raising significant questions about the propriety of his prosecution.

Six years after the fire, former Kings County District Attorney Joseph Hynes and his Chief Deputy Michael Vecchione, the disgraced former head of the Rackets Unit of the Office, commenced this prosecution against Mr. Martinez. Vecchione is currently in the hot seat for his involvement in a number of wrongful convictions including the case of Jonathan Flemings, recently freed after serving 24 years in state prison for a murder.

Defense Counsel Amy Rameau expresses sympathy for the victims of this tragedy and their families but insists that Joseph Hynes and Michael Vecchione wasted government resources prosecuting the wrong man using dubious evidence and relying upon a number of incredible characters including two (2) drug addicted jailhouse snitches and others. Even more alarmingly, highly exculpatory evidence was never disclosed to the defense.

Ms. Rameau has previously demanded her client’s release given the mountain of exculpatory material uncovered by the defense and the prosecution’s continuous failure to be ready for trial in this case. She is now calling for an outright dismissal of all charges against her client. The case is scheduled to be heard before the Kings County Supreme Court on Wednesday April 23, 2014 at 10 AM.

Any questions or concerns the press may have regarding this matter will be addressed outside of the Kings County Supreme Court following the court appearance. For More information on Amy Rameau please go to http://www.therameaulawfirm.com/ar.html
