Bomb Squad Investigates Suspicious Activity in Grand Forks

Posted: Updated:
The Grand Forks Police Department had to call in the bomb squad on Monday morning after a report of suspicious activity.  The call came from the railroad bridge at 119 South 3rd Street around 8:40 a.m.

When officers arrived they noticed a rope hanging from the railroad bridge that was tied into a noose.   On the bridge near the rope was a backpack.  The area was secured and the Grand Forks Regional Bomb Team was called to investigate.  A robot was used to retrieve the backpack from the bridge and after examination it was determined to be safe.

During this incident railroad traffic was suspended.  Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Grand Forks Police Department at 787-8000.
