ORIGINAL STORY

One person is dead after a two-semi crash on Interstate-94 near Barnesville, Minnesota. It was one of several crashes reported Wednesday morning after snow fell overnight.

According to the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened about 4:00 a.m. on an icy section I-94 near milepost 24. Troopers say one driver died when his semi loaded with crates of milk left the eastbound lane and crashed into the median beneath an overpass.

Thomas Harrington, Jr. of St. Paul was driving the other semi and survived the crash. The identity of the driver who died is not being released yet.

Eastbound I-94 was closed for a short time and traffic was re-routed as crews cleared the scene. The interstate was down to one lane in the crash area and fully re-opened to traffic mid-morning. Milk that spilled in the crash is also frozen to the road causing slippery conditions there.

Sergeant Jessie Grabow of the Minnesota State Patrol says he was responding to a jackknifed semi near Rothsay, Minnesota, when he received word of the Barnesville crash.

Grabow says conditions remain dangerous on area roads, and drivers should take necessary precautions.
