"Faces of Autism" Comes to West Acres Mall

Posted: Updated:

April is Autism Awareness month and multiple events are being held to bring this disorder to light. One event is going on currently in Fargo called the "Faces of Autism."

The exhibit displays local faces of children with autism at the northwest end of the West Acres Mall. This is the 4th year the event has happened and the display is open for others to continue adding photos of their loved one with Autism.

The display can be any type of material: poster boards, frames, canvas prints and photo books. Easels are not provided and are not mandatory. The exhibit will be on display until April 20.

The display was started by the FM Autism Support Group. The group meets the second Friday of each month at the YMCA in downtown Fargo (400 1st Ave South, Fargo). Childcare is provided. Find out more information about the group by liking their Facebook page here.

Autism affects 1 in 68 children (1 in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls) according to the Centers for disease and control and prevention. The average cost for a family who have a child with autism is $60,000. Two million people in the United State are diagnosed with Autism.
