Emergency Responders Conduct Emergency Drill

Posted: Updated:

Health emergency responders in the Fargo-Moorhead area conducted an exercise to test emergency room capabilities at Sanford and Essentia health hospitals on Friday. F-M Ambulance and Fargo Cass Public Health also participated in the exercise. The drill was based around the scenario of a tornado that left many victims needing emergency care.

Volunteer victims were from the F-M Acro team and the number of victims participating were kept secret from emergency responders so the exercise would be treated like real event.

"We all know emergency happens and happen when we least expect them and a lot of things have to occur at the same time and to involve everyone at the same time is key," says Essentia Health ND Operation Vice President Doug Vang.

Drills typically occur quarterly at hospitals but Friday's formal drill that involve the whole Fargo Moorhead and West Fargo communities are held yearly.
