BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota State baseball team (8-13) posted a 5-0 shutout victory over Minot State (9-13) Tuesday, April 8, at Dwyer Field in Bismarck.

The Bison are scheduled to host Omaha in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. Only the Saturday twin bill will count as Summit League contests.

Six Bison pitchers combined to allow only one Minot State hit in the game, a single to left field in the second inning, while striking out 10 batters. Tim Colwell led the Bison offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and RBI. He also recorded his team-high fifth stolen base of the season in the contest. Wes Satzinger and Blake Turbak also batted in runs for NDSU.

Trent Keefer pitched two innings in relief of starter David Ernst, striking out four batters to pick up the win and improve to 3-3 overall. Austin Zorn took the loss for Minot State to fall to 3-1 overall. With the win, the Bison move to 8-13 overall while Minot State falls to 9-13 on the season.

North Dakota State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third after Colwell's double to left field allowed Michael Leach to cross home plate. The Bison added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning after Kyle Kleinendorst scored on a wild pitch. NDSU put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth, plating three runs to open up a 5-0 advantage. Turbak was able to score Aiden Hook on a sacrifice bunt before Satzinger singled home Colwell and crossed home plate on a Minot State throwing error.
